Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to start expanding the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway as soon as possible. During a meeting with NHAI officials, Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of beginning the expansion work promptly and suggested that the NHAI coordinate with the Andhra Pradesh government to move the project forward.
Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted the efforts of the Andhra Pradesh government to create a greenfield highway between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. He also mentioned plans to build a dry port in Telangana and proposed constructing a high-speed expressway to connect the dry port to Bandar Port in Andhra Pradesh.
Revanth Reddy urged NHAI officials to support the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project undertaken by the Telangana government and requested their cooperation in this initiative. He also informed them about plans to build 12 radial roads between the Outer Ring Road and the Regional Ring Road, with the development of clusters and satellite townships in between.
Furthermore, Revanth Reddy called for immediate action on the Hyderabad-Manneguda highway and urged officials to resolve any issues with the contracting firm swiftly. He also pushed for the development of the Hyderabad-Kalwakurthy National Highway, which would significantly reduce the distance to Tirupati and improve connectivity to Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister assured full support from the state government for the development of national highways and was accompanied by Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, NHAI Projects member Anil Chowdary, Special Secretary R&B Dasari Harichandana, CM’s Secretary Shahnawaz Qasim, and others at the meeting. NHAI officials briefed Revanth Reddy on land acquisition issues and other challenges in highway development, to which he promised to address in a high-level meeting at the state Secretariat with Collectors and Forest Department officials on Wednesday. Revanth Reddy requested weekly progress reports on highway works from Qasim for monitoring purposes.
