Hyderabad Assembly to Pay Tribute to Former PM Manmohan Singh
The State Legislative Assembly in Hyderabad will convene on December 30 to honor the late Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away on December 26 at the age of 92. Dr. Singh, known as the architect of India’s economic reforms, served as Prime Minister during the UPA-II regime, a period when Telangana was officially formed in 2014.
The special session is being held to recognize and express gratitude for Dr. Singh’s contributions to the creation of Telangana. His role in granting statehood to Telangana is regarded as a pivotal moment in the region’s history.
Speaker G Prasad Kumar has scheduled the Assembly meeting for 10 a.m. on Monday. He has instructed the police department to ensure all necessary arrangements are made for the smooth conduct of the session. According to sources, the session is expected to last for just one day, as the winter session of the Assembly had recently concluded on December 21.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has asked his cabinet members to propose meaningful ways to pay tribute to Dr. Singh during the Assembly session. The government is also planning to announce initiatives in memory of the former Prime Minister, as a mark of respect for his contributions to India’s modern economy.
All members of opposition parties, including those from BRS, BJP, and AIMIM, have been invited to attend the session. They have been encouraged to provide suggestions for developing a memorial in honor of Dr. Manmohan Singh.
