Teachers' group pushes for approval of unpaid bills

Hyderabad: Teachers’ MLC Alugubelli Narsireddy has appealed to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to address the issue of pending bills in the E-Kuber system.

In a letter sent to the Chief Minister on Wednesday, Narsireddy raised concerns about unpaid bills impacting retired employees and teachers. These include pension benefits such as commutation, gratuity, General Provident Fund (GPF) final payments, and leave encashment. He pointed out that these payments have been delayed since March 2024.

Narsireddy reminded the government of its earlier promise to clear these pending bills. He mentioned that during discussions with the Employees Joint Action Committee, the government had assured that all E-Kuber bills would be cleared by December 31, 2024. However, he noted that this commitment has not been fulfilled. He urged the Chief Minister to ensure the bills are cleared by January 31.

Additionally, Narsireddy requested the state government to reconsider any plans to raise the retirement age for employees and teachers. He emphasized that, given the current living standards and high unemployment rates, increasing the retirement age would not be appropriate. He urged the government to prioritize these factors before making any decisions on the matter.
