Andhra Pradesh Minister Plans Revival of TDP in Telangana
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh IT and Industry Minister Nara Lokesh announced that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is preparing a strategy to strengthen its presence in Telangana. He stated that the party still enjoys support in some areas of the state and received a positive response during a recent membership drive. Lokesh shared this update while paying tributes to former Chief Minister and actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) at NTR Ghat on the occasion of NTR’s death anniversary.
Lokesh expressed confidence that the new strategy would restore the party’s former glory in Telangana. He also highlighted NTR’s contributions to the film industry and his leadership as Chief Minister of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. Lokesh hoped that NTR would soon be honored with India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna.
Earlier in the day, prominent Tollywood actors and NTR’s family members, including Nandamuri Balakrishna, Jr NTR, and Kalyan Ram, paid floral tributes to NTR. Jr NTR and Kalyan Ram were the first to visit the samadhi and lay wreaths in honor of their grandfather. The event drew a large gathering of Jr NTR’s fans.
Balakrishna, a TDP MLA and NTR’s son, also paid his respects alongside his brother Nandamuri Ramakrishna and other family members. Speaking at the event, Balakrishna described NTR as a legendary actor and a leader who dedicated his life to serving the poor and marginalized sections of society. He said NTR fought for the self-respect of Telugu people by founding the TDP, which brought global recognition to the community.
Balakrishna emphasized that NTR’s contributions to both films and politics would always be remembered and that he would forever live in the hearts of the people.
