Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh IT and Industries Minister Nara Lokesh announced that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is preparing a strategy to revive its presence in Telangana.
Lokesh stated that the TDP still enjoys support in certain areas of Telangana. He also mentioned that the party recently conducted a membership drive, which received a positive response. Speaking at NTR Ghat in Hyderabad on the occasion of the death anniversary of former Chief Minister and TDP founder NT Rama Rao, Lokesh said the party plans to restore its influence in Telangana soon.
While paying tributes to NT Rama Rao, Lokesh reflected on the late leader’s contributions to the film industry and his tenure as Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh. He expressed hope that NTR would soon be honored with India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna.
Earlier in the day, Tollywood actors N Balakrishna, Jr NTR, and Kalyan Ram also visited NTR Ghat to pay floral tributes. Jr NTR and his brother Kalyan Ram were among the first to lay wreaths at their grandfather’s memorial. A large crowd of Jr NTR’s fans gathered to mark the occasion.
Balakrishna, who is both a TDP MLA and NTR’s son, also paid his respects along with his brother N Ramakrishna and other family members. Speaking on the occasion, Balakrishna praised his father’s legacy as both an actor and a leader. He highlighted NTR’s dedication to serving the poor and marginalized communities and his efforts to uphold the self-respect of Telugu people. Balakrishna noted that NTR’s contributions to Indian cinema and politics would always be remembered.
