The Task Force of the Food Safety Department of Telangana recently raided Lulu Hypermarket in Kukatpally and found several violations. During the inspection, infested and expired food items were discovered, along with houseflies near meat storage.
In the bakery unit, officers found infested items like Atta bread mix and baguette bread mix, which were promptly discarded. Additionally, expired food articles such as Sesame Seeds, toned milk, biscuit packets, glaze, Gems, and fruit juice were also found and discarded.
The FSSAI license for the Lulu Hypermarket’s Hyderabad branch was not displayed at the entrance premises. However, workers in the food section were seen wearing necessary protective gear. Despite the presence of trained supervisors, houseflies were still found near meat storage.
At Sri Sri Caterers in the JNTU Canteen, hygiene standards were found to be lacking. Handlers were not wearing proper gear, and semi-prepared food items were left open without proper labeling. The kitchen premises were also deemed unhygienic.
The raid also uncovered violations at dairy manufacturing units in Hyderabad. At Sapthagiri Foods, insect-proof screens were missing, and doors were not properly sealed to prevent pests from entering. The transportation vehicle did not have the required FSSAI license.
Creamline Dairy Products Limited in Uppal was also found to have violations during the raid. Raw food articles were not stored at the correct temperatures, and workers in the food section were not wearing necessary protective gear.
