Telangana State BC Commission Chairman, Dr Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao, has received the Mahatma Jyothibha Phule Award from the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) for his distinguished social service. The award was announced at the TANA Mahasabhas in Philadelphia, USA earlier this year, where Dr Rao was a special guest. However, due to certain technical reasons, he was unable to receive the award at that time.
To rectify this, the world Telugu Sahitya Vedika President, Dr Prasad Thotakura, traveled from the United States to meet Dr Vakulabharanam at his office in Hyderabad. On September 20, Dr Prasad handed over the award to Dr Vakulabharanam.
During the meeting, Dr Prasad praised Dr Krishnamohan’s contributions in the social field and highlighted his impactful speeches at the TANA Mahasabha. He commended Dr Vakulabharanam’s dedication and relentless struggle for the Backward Communities in the State, which he found truly commendable.
Dr Vakulabharanam expressed his gratitude to TANA for recognizing his social work and stated that receiving the award has given him a greater responsibility to continue his efforts for the BC community. He thanked TANA and Dr Prasad for their support and stated that he will cherish their gesture and warmth for life.
