Finance Minister T Harish Rao expressed his opinion that the President of India should have inaugurated the Parliament building since the President is elected by public representatives from all over India. He also questioned why the Parliament building wasn’t named after BR Ambedkar, as they had requested.
Before a press conference, the Minister had a review meeting on the upcoming Telangana Formation Day Decennial celebrations. He highlighted the importance of the formation of Telangana State and the progress achieved in the last nine years since its inception. He asked people to participate in the celebrations in large numbers.
When asked about mentioning the roles of both BJP and Congress in the Telangana movement during the celebrations, Harish Rao clarified that it was necessary. He criticized both parties for their absence during the movement and failing to resign from their positions.
Harish Rao expressed concerns about Prime Minister Modi’s approach, which he believes divides India and damages the federal spirit. He also criticized the NITI Aayog for not providing recommended funds for Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya.
In response to concerns raised by G Kishan Reddy about Telangana’s debts, Harish Rao urged the Union Minister to consider the Central government’s debts, which have exceeded the GDP-debt ratio. He emphasized that Telangana’s debts are within limits.
