The district administration in Khammam is preparing to address the new Covid variant JN.1. District Collector VP Gautham has instructed health officials to be vigilant and follow Covid preventive measures. The district has not recorded any positive cases since May, but testing for individuals with symptoms is still important. There are currently 2,724 Covid beds available in hospitals, with plans to increase capacity if needed. Resources such as drugs, oxygen, ventilators, PPE kits, and masks are being ensured. One Covid case with mild symptoms was successfully treated at the Government main hospital. The Collector urges people to not panic and follow instructions. He also inspected the Primary Health Centre at Nelokondapalli mandal headquarters to assess preparedness and facilities.
