Supreme Court Delays Hearing on Allegations of Adulterated Ghee in Tirumala Laddu Preparation

The Supreme Court of India started hearing a case on Thursday about allegations of adulterated ghee being used in the making of Tirumala laddu, a sacred offering given to devotees at the Tirumala temple. However, the hearing was postponed to Friday because the court was busy with another case. This decision came after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta requested the delay.

The petition was filed by several people, including former MP Subramanian Swamy, YV Subba Reddy, a member of the YSR Congress, and two others. They are asking for an independent investigation into the claims. The petitioners believe that comments made by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu have hurt the feelings of devotees and affected the sacredness of Tirumala.

The case was being handled by a bench consisting of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Viswanathan. After hearing the request from the Solicitor General, the court decided to reschedule the hearing. The next hearing will take place on Friday at 10:30 AM.

The Supreme Court also asked the Central Government for its opinion on whether the investigation should continue with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the Andhra Pradesh government, or if an independent body should be created to look into the matter.
