Dr. Tellam Venkat Rao, a well-known physician in Bhadrachalam, has rejoined his native BRS party. He was welcomed into the party by K T Rama Rao, the party working president. The joining ceremony took place at TRS Bhavan Hyderabad, in the presence of Minister Puvvada Ajakumar, MPs Vaddiraju Ravichandra, M. Kavitha, MLC Tata Madhu, and MLA Rega Kantha Rao.

Dr. Rao previously served as the state secretary for BRS and ran as a candidate in the 2018 elections but was defeated by Congress MLA Podem Veeraiah. After that, he awaited government nominations for open positions. Former MP Congress leader Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy had Dr. Rao as his primary supporter. Dr. Rao later joined the Congress party and engaged with residents in the district.

Many representatives of regional organizations and BRS leaders recently joined the Congress party in the presence of Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy. Dr. Rao hopes that by joining BRS, he will receive the Bhadrachalam Assembly ticket. However, there are concerns about the rapid political events in the state.

The incumbent MLA Podem Veeraiah had the opportunity to run for office in Bhadrachalam as a Congress candidate, but the party decided not to support him in these elections. Therefore, Dr. Rao, who was considering running for office in the ST Assembly segment, decided to join BRS’s home party after receiving guarantees from senior leaders.

Before joining BRS, Dr. Rao held several gatherings with supporters in Cherla and Dummagudem. In the past, he contested for the Mahabubabad Lok Sabha constituency as a YCP candidate in 2014 but lost. Ministers Harish Rao, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, BRS Chief KCR, and KTR have been supportive of Dr. Rao.

However, the Ponguleti group in the district has been lost.
