Gadwal: The Tandrapadu road is in terrible shape. This road is used by hundreds of tractors and tippers every day to transport sand from the CD Wada sand reach. Because of these heavy vehicles, the gravel on the road has come loose. Recent rains have made the situation worse by creating many potholes. Unfortunately, the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department has not been taking care of this important road, which is causing a lot of problems for the public and those driving on it.
Many accidents have happened on this road due to its poor condition. Drivers have suffered broken limbs and serious injuries. Sadly, there have even been fatal accidents here. Despite these serious incidents, the R&B officials have not taken any action. It seems like they don’t care about fixing the road, much like the saying about Emperor Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned.
People have tried to get the officials to repair the road by making repeated appeals, even through elected representatives. But nothing has been done. Fed up with the lack of action, TDP leader Sudhakar Goud has decided to fix the road himself. For the past four or five years, whenever the road has gotten potholes, Sudhakar Goud has personally filled them. Sometimes, young villagers, inspired by his dedication, have helped him.
It is sad that despite the efforts of concerned villagers, the R&B officials and public representatives are still ignoring the problem. The villagers have also had arguments with the drivers of sand tractors, who transport sand from the Tungabhadra river non-stop. But these confrontations have not led to any improvements in the road conditions.
Now, the villagers are urgently asking the R&B department to act quickly and repair the Tandrapadu road before more accidents and tragedies happen.
