Second-Grade Student Beaten by Teacher Sparks Outrage

In a disturbing incident at Sri Krishnaveni Private School in Aiza Mandal, a second-grade student named Virat was allegedly beaten with a stick by a teacher. This has led to widespread condemnation, with the All India Ambedkar Yuvajana Sangham demanding strict action against the school. The organization submitted a petition to Mandal Education Officer (MEO) Ramulu, urging a fine of Rs. 10 lakhs on the school management for the incident.

Private Schools Accused of Violating Education Laws

The organization further accused private schools in Aiza of disregarding government regulations. They alleged that these schools are charging illegal high fees and failing to reserve 25% of their seats for underprivileged students, as mandated by the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

According to Macharla Prakash, the district president of the organization, the RTE Act outlines specific quotas for free seats in private schools:
– 10% for Scheduled Caste (SC) students
– 4% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students
– 6% for Backward Class (BC) students
– 5% for orphans and differently-abled students

Prakash claimed that private schools in the area are ignoring these rules and prioritizing profits over education, effectively treating it as a business.

Demands for Action Against Schools

In their petition, the organization made several demands to the authorities:
1. Legal action against teachers who harm students physically.
2. Heavy penalties on schools violating the RTE Act.
3. Revocation of permissions for schools that fail to provide free seats to eligible students.

Illegal Practices Highlighted

The organization also raised concerns about other illegal practices occurring in private schools. These include:
– Charging unauthorized capital fees.
– Selling books, uniforms, and shoes at inflated prices.
– Operating without necessary approvals.
– Failing to implement essential safety measures, such as fire exits and playgrounds.
– Employing unqualified teachers who lack D.Ed or B.Ed certifications.

Prakash warned that if these issues remain unaddressed, the organization would organize widespread protests against private schools across Jogulamba Gadwal District.

Protest and Call for Accountability

The protest against Sri Krishnaveni Private School witnessed participation from several members of the All India Ambedkar Yuvajana Sangham. Key figures included Aiza Mandal Vice President Uppala Praveen, and leaders Prabhakar, Vijay, Raju, and Ravi. They demanded immediate action and emphasized the need to hold private schools accountable for their violations of laws and regulations.

The organization has made it clear that they will not tolerate further negligence and exploitation by private schools and are prepared to escalate their protests if necessary.
