New Delhi: Development Minister Gopal Rai visited Azadpur Mandi to assess the fire incident. An inquiry into the incident was ordered yesterday. After the inquiry, it was decided that the traders from the damaged shed would be shifted to another shed temporarily while the repair work is completed within 45 days. The minister also instructed the installation of a fire system in the mandi shed.
During the visit, members of the Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board and former Chairman of Azadpur Mandi, Adil Ahmed Khan, were present. Rai directed mandi officials to take necessary steps to prevent and control future fire incidents. The reason for the fire was identified as the low wall near the shed and the fire from garbage near the wall. To avoid such problems in the future, tin sheds will be elevated.
To ensure smooth business operations, traders will be relocated to another shed temporarily. Local extinguishing measures will also be taken to quickly control any future incidents. Fire systems will be installed inside the shed.
