Telangana received 8.5 TMC of water and Andhra Pradesh got 5.5 TMC from the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) to help with drinking water shortages. The KRMB committee plans to meet again in May to discuss further water allocations during the summer.

Officials from Telangana and AP informed the KRMB about 14 TMC of water available in the Sagar reservoir. They explained the worsening drinking water situation in Hyderabad and other districts due to low reservoir and groundwater levels caused by drought.

The officials asked for the KRMB’s help in addressing the water crisis in Hyderabad and discussed reliance on the Sagar reservoir for drinking water in Mahbubnagar, Khammam, and Nalgonda districts.

The KRMB assured officials that they would work to solve the drinking water issue using available resources and urged both states to use water wisely. Telangana officials also accused AP of using more water than allowed and requested the KRMB to stop AP from using water from Srisailam during the crisis.

Overall, the KRMB meeting focused on addressing drinking water shortages in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with a plan to manage water resources effectively during the summer.
