State-Level Judo Competitions Begin in Karimnagar
The Telangana State Sports Authority, in collaboration with the district Sports department and the Olympic Association, is hosting the CM Cup 2024 State-level judo competitions. The event will run for three days, starting on December 27 (Friday), at the Regional Sports School in Karimnagar, according to District Sports Officer V. Srinivas Goud.
Players, coaches, managers, and referees from all 33 districts of Telangana will participate. Approximately 594 players, 132 coaches and managers, and 20 referees are expected to attend. In total, around 800 athletes are set to compete in this state-level judo tournament.
Ahead of the event, Srinivas Goud, along with State Judo Association general secretary Gasireddy Janardhan Reddy, Maneru Educational Institutions head and State Judo Association vice president Kadari Anantha Reddy, and District Olympic Association vice president Tummala Ramesh Reddy, inspected the arrangements at the sports school on Thursday.
They reviewed various facilities, including the judo mat arena, accommodations for athletes, and the dining area. Officials assured that all necessary arrangements have been completed to ensure a smooth experience for participants. They emphasized that the competitions are being organized with the cooperation of all stakeholders.
Two courts have been set up for the matches, and separate accommodations have been arranged for boys and girls. This ensures comfort and convenience for all participants.
The opening ceremony will take place at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Stadium at 11 a.m. on Friday. The closing ceremony is scheduled for the afternoon of December 29 at the sports school. Several dignitaries, including Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, public representatives, and senior officials, are expected to attend both ceremonies.
Members of the Telangana Olympic Association, including Silveri Mahender, along with sports school coaches Pawan, Sairam Yadav, Shyam, Sunny Babu, Vikram, and others, were also present during the preparations.
