President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurates “Vividhta Ka Amrit Utsav”
Hyderabad: President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the “Vividhta Ka Amrit Utsav” at Amrit Udyan, Rashtrapati Bhavan, on Wednesday. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka were also present at the event.
During the event, the President visited stalls set up by different states. At the Telangana Pavilion, the Deputy Chief Minister explained the significance of Telangana’s handloom craftsmanship and traditional artisans. The President was particularly impressed by the handwoven sarees made by Sircilla weavers. She inquired about their weaving techniques and praised their craftsmanship.
After meeting the President, the Deputy Chief Minister toured the stalls and interacted with exhibitors. One of the key highlights of the event was the mesmerizing “Gussadi” dance, which captivated the audience. Governors and ministers from all South Indian states also attended the inaugural ceremony.
The “Vividhta Ka Amrit Utsav” is being organized by the President’s Secretariat as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating 75 years of India’s independence. This festival aims to highlight India’s cultural, linguistic, and traditional diversity under the theme “Unity in Diversity.”
The festival will run from March 6 to 9 and features a special Telangana Pavilion. This pavilion showcases stalls set up by Padma Shri awardees Gajam Anjaiah and Gajam Govardhan, along with 20 well-known handloom artisans and 20 handicraft experts from various regions of Telangana.
