IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu emphasized the importance of preserving every sapling planted in Peddapalli district as part of the Vana Mahotsavam program. He, along with additional Collector J. Arunasri, MLA Chinthakunta Vijaya Ramana Rao, and Municipal Chairperson Mamata Reddy, launched the plantation initiative at Government Degree College in Peddakalvala.
The Minister highlighted that the Vana Mahotsavam program aims to educate students about environmental balance, planting, and greenery from a young age. He stressed the need for accountability in all government-led initiatives and suggested focusing on preserving even a smaller number of planted trees effectively.
Sridhar Babu urged for accurate tracking of plants distributed and planted in Peddapalli and Godavarikhani areas. He called for regular audits of government-planted saplings and those distributed to households, emphasizing the importance of monitoring plant growth consistently.
Additionally, the Minister recommended industries in the district like NTPC, RFCL, Singareni, and Kesoram Cement to contribute to large-scale plantation preservation efforts. He also advised leaving space on roadsides for planting trees in alignment with the plans of the R&B department.
Further, Additional Collector Arunasri disclosed plans to plant 27 lakh saplings in the district this year with a commitment to preserving all planted saplings. Peddapalli Municipal Chairperson Dr. Mamata Reddy set a target of planting 1,30,000 saplings in Peddapalli town. Various officials, including Peddapalli Municipal Commissioner Srikanth, District Forest Officer Shivayya, and others, participated in the program.
