Special Officer Urges Streamlined Grain Procurement Process for Farmers

Kothagudem: District Special Officer Surendra Kumar and District Collector Jitesh V Patil held a meeting to prepare for the upcoming grain procurement season. The meeting took place at the IDOC conference hall on Tuesday. Officials from various departments such as Civil Supplies, Agriculture, Cooperation, and Marketing, along with rice millers, were present. The main goal was to ensure a smooth procurement process for farmers, especially during the rainy season.

Surendra Kumar emphasized that all farmers should be able to sell their quality paddy at the government support price. He insisted that payments to farmers should be made within 48 hours. Kumar instructed the officials in charge of purchase centres and agricultural officers to guide farmers on maintaining the quality of their grain. He warned that any negligence in the process would lead to strict action against the responsible officials.

District Collector Jitesh V Patil shared that around 2.95 lakh metric tonnes of grain are expected this season. To manage this, 165 grain purchase centres have been set up across the district. Patil also mentioned that more centres could be opened if needed. The government has set the support price at Rs. 2320 per quintal for A-grade paddy and Rs. 2300 per quintal for B-grade paddy.

In addition, essential materials like tarpaulins, weighing machines, and bags will be provided at every purchase centre. To make the process easier, there will be separate counters for small and large varieties of paddy. This will help ensure that the procurement goes smoothly for everyone involved.
