Telangana Assembly Speaker Urges Smooth Conduct of Sessions
Hyderabad: Telangana State Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar has directed the police and other officials to ensure that the upcoming sessions of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council take place without any disruptions.
Ahead of the sessions starting on March 12, the Speaker, along with Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy and Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Banda Prakash Mudiraj, held a meeting with senior officials from the State Government and Police Department. This meeting, which took place at the Speaker’s Chamber in the Assembly building, focused on administration, security, and other necessary arrangements.
Speaker Prasad Kumar expressed gratitude to government officials and Assembly staff for their support in smoothly conducting previous sessions. He emphasized the importance of upholding the dignity of the Telangana State Legislative Assembly and ensuring that the upcoming budget sessions, which are expected to last for an extended period, run efficiently. He urged officials to provide information requested by members promptly and to be available during discussions related to their respective departments.
The Speaker also stressed the need for police to maintain order both inside and outside the Assembly. He said that discussions are most effective when there is a peaceful environment and asked for intelligence teams to remain active and vigilant.
Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy called for cooperation among all departments to ensure the successful conduct of the Assembly sessions. He advised that all officials, Ministers, and public representatives should attend the meetings. He also suggested appointing nodal officers and liaison officers to coordinate better. Additionally, he urged the police department to stay alert, as various associations might organize protests during the sessions. He recommended implementing a three-tier security system around the Assembly and Legislative Council, as well as at the residences of VIPs and along their travel routes.
Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu assured full government support for the smooth functioning of the House. He stated that efforts would be made to quickly address pending questions and that each department will have a designated nodal officer to facilitate communication.
