Hyderabad’s ‘Sparkling Cyberabad’ Initiative Removes 24,000 Litres of Waste in a Month
Hyderabad is taking big steps towards cleaner public spaces. Inorbit Mall’s ‘Sparkling Cyberabad’ initiative has successfully removed 24,000 litres of dry waste, including plastic and paper, in just one month. This program started in January 2025 and is a joint effort by Inorbit Mall, Nirmaan NGO, and GHMC Serilingampally. The goal is to improve city cleanliness using automated waste collection.
Technology for Cleaning
Unlike regular clean-up drives, ‘Sparkling Cyberabad’ uses six automated electric litter pickup machines. These machines operate in a four-kilometre radius around Inorbit Mall. By using technology, the initiative reduces manual labour and ensures thorough cleaning in busy areas.
Expanding to Key Areas
The initiative currently covers important places such as:
– Kondapur – Botanical Garden
– Madhapur – Inorbit Mall and Durgam Cheruvu Park
– Shilparamam – Cultural Park
– Hitech City – Food streets and Hitex Arch
– Gachibowli – DLF Street food area and Raidurg Metro Station
Future Plans
With rising concerns about plastic pollution and urban cleanliness, ‘Sparkling Cyberabad’ is a great example of how private and public groups can work together to keep cities clean. Seeing its early success, the program may expand to other areas, offering a scalable and sustainable waste management solution for Hyderabad.
