District SP Apoorva Rao of Nalgonda has announced that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, the district police have confiscated a total of Rs 7.39 crore in cash, gold worth Rs 80 lakh, and liquor worth Rs 40 lakh. Additionally, during vehicle check-ups conducted across the district and at interstate borders, the police have seized ganja worth Rs 1.71 lakh.
During a press conference, SP Apoorva Rao shared that on Sunday, the police intercepted a car at the inter-state border check-post in Wadapally and discovered unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 3.04 crore. The car had initially tried to evade the police at Madgulapally.
The individuals responsible for transporting the money in the car, Vipul Kumar (46) and Amarsinha Jala (52) from Gujarat, have been charged by the police for not complying with orders to stop the vehicle, reckless driving, and causing injury to a person. SP Apoorva Rao warned that anyone who violates the model code of conduct during the upcoming elections will face consequences from the police.
