Khammam’s Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) held the inauguration of a solar-roofed parking shed on Saturday. The shed, costing Rs 1.58 crore, is the first of its kind in the state and was installed at the IDOCs. Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, along with other officials, turned on the solar power plant.

The solar panels were mounted on the roof of a parking garage at IDOC to connect the 200 KW solar power plant to the grid. Minister Ajay Kumar praised the state administration for this achievement. This pilot project in Khammam district will be replicated in other districts as well.

The power plant will produce 800 to 1000 units of power each day. The energy will be used for IDOC requirements and the excess will be sent to the grid. The installation of the solar power plant will result in monthly electricity savings of 80,000 to 1 lakh rupees.

In addition to the solar-roofed parking shed, significant funds were allocated for the construction of new government buildings and a six-lane road for easy access to the collectorate.
