Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed his disappointment that political parties in Telangana are hesitant to celebrate ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ due to vote bank politics. Speaking at the official celebration of the day, Shah emphasized the importance of respecting the nation’s history and sacrifices. He hoisted the national flag and received a guard of honor during the event.

Shah recalled the atrocities committed by the Razakars during the Nizam rule in Telangana, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. He credited Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for the liberation of Hyderabad and mentioned how Nizam’s Razakars surrendered to the Indian Union. Shah also highlighted that no government in the past 75 years has celebrated the historic day or created programs to educate the younger generation about it.

Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for starting the tradition of celebrating the ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ since last year. He explained that this celebration is a tribute to the martyrs and aims to instill patriotism in the younger generation. Shah also mentioned India’s progress under PM Modi’s leadership, including its rise in the world economy ranking and promotion of the country’s culture through international platforms like the G20 summit.

The State of Hyderabad, previously under Nizam’s rule, was annexed to India through ‘Operation Polo’ on September 17, 1948. Shah commended Sardar Patel, K M Munshi, and others who contributed to the liberation of Hyderabad. Union Tourism Minister and BJP president in Telangana, G Kishan Reddy, also spoke at the event.
