Protest Held in Shadnagar Demanding Increase in Disability Pension
A protest was held in front of the Collectorate in Shadnagar, Rangareddy district, by the National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled on Monday. The group, led by its district president Ashanna Gari Bhujangareddy, demanded that the disability pension be increased to Rs 6,000. Leaders from the Jai Swaraj Party and the Dharma Samaj Party also joined the protest in support.
During the demonstration, Ashanna Gari Bhujangareddy pointed out that the Congress party had promised, during the State Assembly elections, to raise the disability pension to Rs 6,000. However, he criticized the government for failing to fulfill this promise even after 11 months in power. He questioned the delay in implementing the commitment made to disabled individuals.
As part of the protest, a memorandum was submitted to Rangareddy district Collector Narayana Reddy. The memorandum highlighted two key demands: increasing the disability pension to Rs 6,000 and sanctioning new pensions for disabled individuals in need.
Several prominent leaders and activists participated in the event. Among them were Jai Swaraj Party leader Barla Anjaneyulu, DSP party leader Ravinder, along with Jerkoni Raju, Cheguri Shekhar Goud, Thalla Nirmala, Balamani, Narsingh, Ravinder, Raghavender, Mallesh, Jangayya, and others.
