Shabbir criticizes BRS over misleading 'Minorities Bandhu' program

Congress senior leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir criticized the BRS Government’s proposed “Minorities Bandhu” scheme, calling it a deception for unemployed youth in the minority community. Shabbir Ali pointed out that in 2015-16, over 1.53 lakh jobless youth applied for loans from the Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation, but their applications were discarded. Recently, when fresh applications were invited, more than 2.20 lakh jobless youth applied, but these applications also remained unprocessed.

Shabbir Ali accused CM KCR of deceiving the minorities by allocating a meager amount of Rs. 50 crore for loans, which was later increased to Rs. 70 crore after Congress protested. However, even this amount is insufficient to benefit all the jobless youth who have applied. To cover up this failure, CM KCR launched the “Minority Bandhu” scheme to provide Rs. 1 Lakh financial assistance with a 100% subsidy.

Shabbir Ali also criticized CM KCR’s claims of spending on minority welfare. He highlighted that during the Congress Government’s tenure from 2004 to 2014, there was significant growth in the allocation for minority welfare. The total budget increased approximately 3.15 times, while the allocation for minorities’ welfare saw a surge of 26.33 times.

Overall, Shabbir Ali expressed his disappointment with the BRS Government’s approach towards addressing unemployment among minority youth and questioned the effectiveness of their proposed schemes.
