Heavy rain hit Nagarkurnool district center from last night until morning. The highest rainfall of 77 mm was recorded in Vangur mandal KistamPally. The rain came with strong thunderstorms, causing damage to roads in many areas and making village roads muddy. In addition, a compound wall collapsed at a government degree college near Nellikonda.
The collapse of the compound wall, which was built less than a year ago, is believed to be due to the contractor’s negligence. In BC Colony, a young man protested by sitting in the mud because the road in his colony was also muddy due to the rain. The heavy rain also caused a power outage throughout the night, leaving people struggling without electricity.
Despite the challenges posed by the rain, farmers in many mandals of the district have started sowing seeds after experiencing heavy rain for the third time in a week. The untimely rainfall last night has filled most ponds with water and revived dried-up ponds in the area.
