Tragedy struck in Tirupathur district, Tamil Nadu, when a speeding lorry crashed into a stationary mini-bus from behind. This resulted in the death of seven women who were inside the mini-bus. The mini-bus was carrying a total of 19 passengers, including 15 women, who were returning from Dharmasala. At the time of the accident, the women were sitting at the front of the van on the side median because the mini-bus had a flat tire. Thankfully, some of the passengers had gone to find a mechanic when the collision occurred.
The lorry collided with the immobilized mini-bus, causing it to topple over and crush the women inside. Sadly, seven individuals named Meena, Settu, Deivanai, Devaki, Kalanithi, Savithri, and Geetanjali lost their lives instantly. The remaining passengers were quickly taken to Tirupathur government hospital for medical treatment.
District Collector Bhaskara Pandian visited the hospital to express his condolences to the families of the deceased women. He also mentioned that Chief Minister MK Stalin had inquired about the accident and instructed for necessary medical care to be provided to those who were injured.
