Seven third year MBBS students from Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) in Warangal have been suspended from classes for three months and barred from the college hostel for one year for ragging their juniors. The KMC anti-ragging committee conducted an investigation into the incident and also issued notices to 20 other students, warning them against involvement in similar incidents.
The committee, led by KMC Principal Dr Divvela Mohan Das, held a six-hour session to discuss the ragging incident that occurred on September 14. They first spoke with the victim, Manohar Kumar Salanki, and then separately questioned the accused students – Abhinav Mora, Silver Sri Hari, Sri Charan, Suriya Prakash, K Lokesh, J Sai Kiran, and Hari Krishna – in the presence of their parents.
Dr Mohan Das stated that the students were counseled with their parents present and warned of severe consequences if they were involved in any further ragging incidents. The Matwada police are also conducting their own investigation into the case.
The members of the anti-ragging committee include KMC Vice-Principal Dr K Ramkumar Reddy, Assistant Director B Yadagiri, Administrative Officer A Venu Gopal, Warangal ACP Bonala Kishan, Media Representative Sudhakar, NGO K Anitha Reddy, Lay Person Md Hanif Khan, and Assistant Professors Dr K Shashikantha, Dr P Sujatha, Dr B Raja Ram, and Dr M Damodari Bai.
