Seethakka: Transitioning from Naxalite to Minister

Seethakka, also known as Dansari Anasuya, has won her third consecutive term in the Assembly elections. She is known for always being available to her constituency’s people and her popularity was evident from the loud cheers she received during her swearing-in ceremony. After taking the oath of office from Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Seethakka greeted Revanth and then received blessings from Sonia Gandhi at L B Stadium.

Seethakka was born in an Adivasi Koya tribe and was involved in the Naxalite movement before entering politics. She joined the Janashakti Naxal group when she was 14 years old in 1987 and surrendered under a general amnesty plan in 1997. She went on to study Law and earned her doctorate from Osmania University.

Seethakka’s political career began in 2004 when she ran as a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidate in the Mulugu constituency. Although she faced defeat in that election, she didn’t give up. In the 2009 elections, she ran on a grand alliance ticket and won against the Congress candidate Veeraiah, securing her first seat in the Assembly. After losing to BRS candidate Ajmeera Chandulal in 2014, she decided to join the Congress party. This move proved successful as she defeated Ajmeera in 2018 with a majority of over 22,000 votes. In the recent elections, Seethakka was able to retain her seat.

Seethakka’s dedication to public service and her strong position within the Congress party have been demonstrated through her continuous victories in the Assembly elections.
