Secunderabad railway station renovation works progressing rapidly

The upgrade of Secunderabad railway station is progressing quickly. The foundation work for the new station building on the southern side has started, and construction is also underway for three underground tanks to meet the water needs of the station.

The three underground tanks are being built as part of the station’s upgrade. One tank with a capacity of 1.5 lakh litres is being constructed at the Reservation office, another tank with a capacity of 2 lakh litres near the Train Lighting depot, and a third tank with a capacity of 6 lakh litres near Platform number 10. The civil work for these tanks is almost complete, and once they are finished, the station’s water requirements will be met.

To accommodate the increasing passenger capacity and provide additional services, a temporary booking office has been constructed near exit gate no. 5, and the parcel office is operational for ticketing and inquiries. Excavation work is also in progress for a multi-level car parking facility on the north side of the station building. On the southern side, foundation work has started for the new station building, which will have two basements – one for passenger arrival and another for parking. Construction has begun for both basement levels.

Additionally, to support the increased capacity of the new station building, an additional Electrical Sub-Station (ESS) will be set up on the south side. Currently, there is one 11 KV ESS on the north side of the existing building.
