SCR and NDRF carry out joint mock drill

South Central Railway (SCR) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) recently conducted a joint mock drill at Bolarum railway station to simulate a train accident.

During the drill, fifteen passengers were trapped inside train coaches due to an unusual incident. Upon receiving the alert, the Accident Relief Train (ART) Team quickly responded. At the same time, the Railway Emergency Control Room informed the NDRF Team, which arrived promptly to assist in the rescue operation.

Using specialized equipment, both the Railway and NDRF teams worked together to safely rescue the trapped passengers. The exercise aimed to test the emergency response and coordination between different teams in handling railway accidents.

According to SCR officials, the Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway collaborated with a team of 22 personnel from the Regional Response Centre (RRC) Hyderabad, the 10th Battalion of the NDRF, and Railway ART (Accident Relief Train) and SPARMV (Self-Propelled Accident Relief Medical Vans) teams to conduct this mock drill.

The drill also focused on evaluating the effectiveness of disaster-response equipment. Participants practiced using tools like cold cutting equipment, saber saws, and abrasive cutters. These tools were used to cut window rods and coach bodies, helping in the smooth evacuation of injured passengers.

A senior SCR officer stated that such drills provide valuable hands-on experience in handling railway emergencies and improving rescue operations.
