SCB Officials Continue to Neglect Road Works After a Decade

Numerous fatal accidents have been reported in the Secunderabad Cantonment area in Hyderabad, prompting the need for the re-carpeting of entry roads. Residents have accused the SCB authorities of deliberately neglecting to repair civilian roads and preventing walkers from accessing certain roads.

The locals have questioned why the SCB entry roads have not been repaired. They have pointed out that important entry roads such as East Marredpally, Willington Gate, Ammuguda Gate, Allahabad Gate, Roberts Road, and Safilguda Road are not maintained as well as the LMA’s well-maintained roads. This has caused inconvenience for residents, especially morning walkers who are not allowed to enter the golf course area. Additionally, some bus routes have been discontinued, making commuting difficult for locals in these areas.

The Secretary of the Federation of North Eastern Colonies of Secunderabad, C S Chandrashekar, expressed concern over the disparity in road conditions within the SCB limits. He mentioned that people are falling off two-wheelers daily at Allahabad Gate due to the poor road conditions. Chandrashekar suspected that SCB officials intentionally avoid repairing the roads to discourage civilians from using them.

For the past decade, most of the entry roads in the Secunderabad Cantonment area have remained unrepaired, posing a safety risk to citizens who rely on these roads for transportation. The number of accidents in SCB has increased by 10%, prompting the need for wider roads and the removal of illegal speed breakers. The residents urged the SCB to address these road issues promptly and respond to public grievances. They also highlighted that morning walkers are still prohibited from walking on certain stretches, particularly in Bolarum near Rashtrapati Nilayam Road.
