The SBI Chairman, Challa Srinivas Shetty, visited his home district of Wanaparthy. Several important people were present to greet him, including State Planning Commission Vice President Chinna Reddy, Nagar Kurnool MP Mallu Ravi, DCCB Chairman Mamillapalli Vishnuvardhan Reddy, and Wanaparthy Collector Adarsh Surabhi. The event took place at the Ganesh temple in the old market yard of the district center. Wanaparthy MLA Megha Reddy and Nagar Kurnool MLA Rajesh Reddy also attended and were honored with flower bouquets and shawls.
During his visit, a consumer meeting was organized by the SBI Foundation at Kalyan Sai Gardens in Wanaparthy on Sunday. This meeting was part of several service activities initiated by SBI under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
One of the CSR activities included distributing bicycles to 50 girl students from ZP High School (Girls) in Wanaparthy. Additionally, SBI launched a “Sanjeevani Clinic on Wheels” program, which will provide medical services at home. This service has already started in Gattu mandal of Jogulamba Gadwala district.
As part of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, 185 beneficiaries in the district received checks worth Rs. 1.47 crore along with loan documents. Under the Mudra Loan Scheme, 50 beneficiaries were given checks totaling Rs. 50 lakhs. Another check for Rs. 31.96 crore was handed over to Self Help Societies.
SBI Chairman, Challa Srinivas Shetty, emphasized that hard work can help anyone achieve success and that SBI is committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities. He highlighted that SBI Foundation has helped develop 1000 government schools and 1000 Primary Health Centers (PHCs) across the country in just one year. He also mentioned plans to carry out similar programs in Telangana. In Wanaparthy district, SBI holds 55% of bank deposits and has a 45% market share.
Shetty proudly stated that the Telangana SBI team is ranked third in the country for providing loans under the PM Vishwakarma scheme.
State Planning Commission Vice Chairman Chinna Reddy expressed pride in Shetty’s appointment as SBI Chairman, highlighting that it’s a matter of honor for the Telugu community. Reddy urged for more CSR programs in the district and requested support for renovating Gari Kota and converting the Polytechnic College into a skill development hub.
MP Mallu Ravi also congratulated Shetty on his appointment and hoped for his continued success. He requested more CSR programs in Wanaparthy and Gadwala districts, including the “Clinic on Wheels” initiative for Nagar Kurnool’s tribal areas.
The event was attended by SBI CGM Rajesh Kumar, as well as other state and local officers from SBI.
