Gadwal Protest Against Union Budget Discrimination

In Jogulamba Gadwal district, Sarithamma, former Zilla Parishad Chairperson and Congress Party in-charge of the Gadwal constituency, staged a protest at the Ambedkar statue. The protest was organized to express dissatisfaction over the alleged neglect of Telangana in the Union Budget. This demonstration followed a call by TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, criticizing the BJP-led central government’s treatment of the state.

Speaking at the event, Sarithamma accused the central government of sidelining Telangana’s development needs. She labeled the Union Budget as politically motivated, claiming it prioritized BJP’s political interests over equitable development. Sarithamma noted that while states like Bihar and Andhra Pradesh received significant financial allocations, Telangana was ignored.

She also questioned the central government’s decision to fund Andhra Pradesh’s Polavaram project with thousands of crores while neglecting Telangana’s development projects. “Being friendly with the Centre does not mean tolerating injustice. Telangana deserves its rightful share without discrimination,” she asserted.

Sarithamma further alleged that Telangana’s name seemed to have been erased from the Union Budget entirely, reflecting what she called the Prime Minister’s ongoing bias against the state. She criticized the BJP for prioritizing Andhra Pradesh over Telangana, emphasizing that while the Congress Party does not oppose Andhra’s development, the injustice towards Telangana cannot be overlooked.

Referring to the budget as a “bargain deal” designed to please political allies, Sarithamma criticized Telangana’s BJP MPs and MLAs. “Despite electing eight BJP MPs and eight MLAs, Telangana has been given nothing but a donkey’s egg by the Centre,” she said. She also directly challenged Union Ministers from Telangana, G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, asking if they genuinely cared about the welfare of the state.

“If they have any love for Telangana, they should immediately resign from their posts,” Sarithamma demanded.

The protest saw participation from several senior Congress leaders, former councilors, women leaders, youth activists, and party workers, all voicing their support for protecting Telangana’s rights.
