Jorge Sampaoli, a 63-year-old Argentinian manager, has been named as the new head coach for the Brazilian football club, Flamengo. Sampaoli said that he turned down offers to remain in Europe to take the job with Flamengo. He replaces former Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira who was sacked after less than four months in the role. Sampaoli’s first match in charge will be a home game against Chile’s Nublense on Wednesday. He said that he will decide who can play in the match and who cannot. Sampaoli has previously managed the Chile and Argentina national teams and has also worked with Brazilian clubs Santos and Atletico Mineiro.
