Foundation Stone Laid for District Women’s Federation Building in Gadwal
Gadwal District Collector B.M. Santosh emphasized that true national development can only be achieved when women progress both economically and socially. On Thursday, he, along with local MLA Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy, laid the foundation stone for the construction of the District Women’s Federation Building at the Daudarpally Medical College premises. The project, with an estimated cost of ₹5 crores, is a major step toward empowering women in the district.
The Collector highlighted the state government’s efforts to uplift women through various initiatives. He mentioned programs like providing two sets of school uniforms to students annually and the allocation of 7,000 houses under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, aimed at improving living standards. Women’s groups will also be supported with brick manufacturing units for constructing these houses.
He further noted that banks are providing financial assistance to women’s self-help groups. The government is also helping them establish solar units, poultry, and fish farming businesses to increase their incomes. Other schemes like free bus travel for women, ₹500 LPG cylinders, and up to 200 units of free electricity are being implemented to empower women and reduce their financial burdens.
The Collector announced plans to select and train interested women from the district in successful programs implemented in Coimbatore. These programs aim to help women’s groups manage businesses and become role models in the state. The new building, expected to be completed by September, will feature state-of-the-art facilities and training programs to support women in becoming self-reliant.
