Hyderabad, June 28 (Namaste Telangana): Minister Gangula Kamalakar of the Department of Agriculture has announced measures to increase milling capacity in order to meet the growing demand for rice in the state. With a budget of Rs. 2 crore, the Department of Agriculture has ordered the Chief Minister KCR to undertake milling operations across the state, and they have stated that actions are being taken swiftly in this direction. On Wednesday, officials from the Department of Agriculture met with representatives from Japan Stock Corporation to discuss the matter. Kamalakar then addressed the media. It has been reported that rice production in Telangana has increased to three crore tonnes, but milling capacity has not kept up with the expected level.
In 2014, there were 1,815 rice mills, which has now increased to only 2,574. It has been revealed that rice bran oil and paddy processing are being considered for mill production. Discussions were held with representatives from Malol Innovations, CSM, IBI, and Planet M on this matter. The meeting was attended by Akhil Kumar Gavara, Director of the TS Food Processing Society, along with representatives Sushma and representatives from Japan Stock Corporation R. Bajaj among others.
