Telangana BJP senior leader A Chandrashekhar has quit the party. He has been staying away from attending meetings and party programs recently. Chandrashekhar sent a letter to BJP state unit President G Kishan Reddy on Saturday, announcing his decision to leave the saffron party.
Telangana Congress President A Revanth Reddy reached out to Chandrashekhar and invited him to join the Congress. Revanth will meet Chandrashekhar at his home on Sunday evening to discuss the political issues. Chandrashekhar is a senior leader from the Dalit community and was part of the second phase of the Telangana movement led by BRS Chief K Chandrashekhar Rao in 2001. After differences emerged with KCR, Chandrashekhar left the BRS and joined BJP.
Sources say that Chandrashekhar was unhappy in the BJP because he was not given any significant role in the party. It is likely that he will receive assurance of a party ticket to contest from Vikarabad Assembly Constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections during his meeting with the Telangana Congress Chief soon.
