Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will launch the “Katamaiah Raksha” scheme on Sunday in Hyderabad. This scheme aims to provide safety kits to Toddy Tappers in the Goud community in the state. After the launch, the CM will join the beneficiaries for a community lunch.
The government will distribute these safety kits to toddy tappers who climb palm trees to extract toddy and other substances. The kits will be provided through the Telangana State BC Corporation. The decision to distribute these kits came after reports of toddy tappers losing their lives or getting injured while climbing trees. The new kits aim to protect them from falling.
A private company collaborated with IIT Hyderabad to develop these safety kits. The kits are designed to help workers climb trees using ropes easily and safely. They incorporate the latest technology to prevent accidental falls. Each kit includes 6 devices – rope, clips, handles, sling bag, and leg loop. These user-friendly kits are similar to the traditional ones currently used by workers.
