Hyderabad: Children’s Day Celebrated in Grand Style

For the first time since the formation of Telangana, the state government organized a large-scale Children’s Day celebration at L B Stadium on Thursday. The government assured students that it is dedicated to helping them achieve their dreams and develop their hidden talents. This, they said, would allow the state to contribute the best human resources to the country.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy addressed a crowd of about 14,000 students. He criticized the previous BRS government, saying it had neglected the education sector for over ten years. He questioned whether the former government had ever held such a grand celebration for students or interacted with them. “Did the previous Chief Minister or any of the ministers ever meet you?” he asked. The students responded with a resounding “No.”

The Chief Minister explained that this is why the Congress government organized the event and launched the ‘Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu.’ This celebration marks one year of Congress rule, and the government chose to meet with students as part of it. Revanth Reddy also recounted an incident from the previous regime, claiming that the former CM jailed doctors when his grandson’s dog died but showed no emotion when 30 students tragically lost their lives in a bus accident at Masaipet.

Revanth Reddy emphasized that his government considers students to be the future of the country and is committed to empowering them. He mentioned that the government had allocated 7% of the state budget to education, increased allowances for student meals and other basic needs, and filled 11,062 teacher posts.

The CM also expressed his goal to make government schools as good as, if not better than, private schools. He reminded students that many respected professionals, including IAS and IPS officers, as well as judges, had attended government schools. “Do not underestimate yourselves,” he told the students, urging them to stay away from harmful habits like drug abuse.
