Revanth calls for efficient implementation of CM breakfast scheme

The TPCC president, Revanth Reddy, wrote a letter to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao about the Breakfast Scheme for school students. He mentioned that the mid-day meal scheme has many problems, such as lack of basic facilities in schools, non-payment of bills to workers, and cooking on firewood stoves. Despite these issues, the government is rushing to start the breakfast scheme without addressing these concerns.

Revanth Reddy also highlighted the need for the government to adjust the budget according to the increased prices in the market. Many schools have improper kitchens and cook food outside under trees, which can lead to contamination and make students sick.

The midday meal workers have been protesting for several days, demanding increased salary, a higher budget for a new menu, payment of pending bills, and other essential provisions. The management of Gurukuls and welfare hostels in the state is also in bad condition, with food not being served according to the menu and quality standards not being met.

Students have fallen ill due to half-cooked food, unclean environments, and water issues. The midday meal workers are concerned about how they can afford to provide breakfast when they are struggling to cook lunch and facing financial difficulties due to unpaid bills. The preparation of breakfast puts an additional burden on them, and they believe the minimum wage should be adjusted accordingly.
