Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mahbubnagar, PCC chief A Revanth Reddy claimed that the visit was part of a plan by the BJP and BRS to divide the Opposition’s votes and help the latter win in the Assembly polls. He criticized the money spent on Modi’s visit, stating that it could have been used for the development of the district.
During a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Revanth pointed out that Modi’s speech lacked the same aggression he usually displays against the Congress. He alleged that there was a secret agreement between the two parties, evident in Modi’s failure to mention issues like Kaleshwaram or the Liquor scam, as well as his failure to promise to expose Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s corruption. Revanth believed that Modi’s visit was clearly intended to divide the Opposition’s vote and ensure BRS’s victory.
In a bold move, Revanth referred to both Modi and KCR as ‘billa-ranga’ and challenged them to an open debate on the implementation of their respective parties’ poll promises during their rule from 2014 to 2023 and Congress’s rule from 2004 to 2014.
Revanth expressed disappointment with Modi’s visit, stating that it did not bring any substantial benefits to the state. He had hoped for the declaration of national status for the Palamuru-Rangareddy project and the fulfillment of all assurances made in the AP Reorganisation Act. He also mentioned that promises like the Turmeric Board and Tribal University were not new.
