The President of TPCC, A Revanth Reddy, criticized Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for not taking the warnings of heavy rains seriously. He accused CM KCR of prioritizing political defections over the safety of people’s lives. Reddy also condemned the CM for neglecting to review the flood situation and instead using his office for political purposes.
Reddy stated that many lives were lost due to the negligence of the State government, while ruling party leaders enjoyed themselves in farmhouses. He highlighted the government’s recurring practice of witnessing floods every year and then forgetting about them. The State has already reported a loss of Rs 3,000 crore and an estimated 10 lakh acres of crops damaged across Telangana.
Reddy demanded Rs 20,000 compensation for agricultural lands filled with sand dunes and urged the government to take necessary steps in flood-affected areas. He also called for financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh for the families who lost their loved ones in the floods. Additionally, he requested Rs 15,000 temporary compensation for those affected by the floods.
Reddy expressed his disappointment with CM KCR’s focus on politics instead of addressing the flood threat. He demanded that the Central government release Rs 1,000 crore as temporary flood relief to Telangana. He announced that all Congress MPs would meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and present a report on the flood damage in Telangana.
Reddy urged Congress cadres to participate in flood relief operations and inspected the progress of the elevated corridor works in Uppal. He emphasized the need for progress in the corridor works by Monday and mentioned his intention to report the suspension of corridor works to Nitin Gadkari in Parliament.
Reddy spoke to officials about the delay in the elevated corridor works and appealed for coordination between departments to expedite the construction. He also visited Mamta Nagar Nala in Nagol and questioned officials about the reasons for the delay in the works.
In a separate development, leaders from Kollapur joined the Congress party in the presence of TPCC president Revanth Reddy. This included leaders from the BRS party led by former minister Jupalli Krishna Rao, Venugopal (former sarpanch of Koder Mandal Bavaipalli), Mahesh Reddy (MPTC), and other senior leaders.
