Retired IPS officer A.R. Anuradha has officially taken on the role of Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). She assumed her duties on Thursday at the commission’s office in Vijayawada.
During the swearing-in ceremony, the APPSC Secretary administered the oath of office to Anuradha. Several board members, officials, and staff were present and congratulated her on her new role.
After taking the oath, Anuradha immediately reviewed the ongoing recruitment processes under the commission’s purview. This included the pending Group 1 and Group 2 exams. She also discussed upcoming recruitment exams and interviews.
Anuradha, a 1987 batch IPS officer, has held several key positions throughout her career. She has served as Superintendent of Police (SP) and Inspector General (IG) in various districts of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. Notably, she was the first woman to head the Intelligence Department in the state. She also served as Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement.
Anuradha’s husband, Nimmagadda Surendra Babu, is also an IPS officer from the same 1987 batch. Anuradha takes over the position of APPSC Chairperson following the resignation of Gautam Sawang, who stepped down despite having a year left in his tenure.
