Resumption of Scientific Survey

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has resumed its scientific survey of the Gyanvapi premises in Varanasi. The survey aims to determine whether the 17th-century mosque was built over a pre-existing Hindu temple. The ASI was given permission by the Allahabad High Court to conduct the survey. The survey started at 7 am and will continue after a two-hour break for Friday prayers. Additional security personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order near the complex. Representatives of the Hindu petitioners are present during the survey, but the representatives of the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid committee are absent. The survey is expected to last for five to six days, and the plaintiffs and their lawyers will be present along with the ASI team.
