Critical Brain Blockage Successfully Treated in Karimnagar
A man named Y. Shankar from Godavarikhani faced a life-threatening emergency due to a severe blood clot in his brain. He was treated at Apollo Rich Hospital in Karimnagar under the guidance of renowned cardiologist Dr. Krishna Chaitanya. The timely and advanced medical care provided by the hospital saved his life.
During a press conference at Apollo Rich Hospital on Thursday, Dr. Krishna Chaitanya explained that blood vessels in the brain can become blocked, much like how fat deposits block blood vessels in the heart. He stressed that early detection and proper treatment are critical in saving lives.
Dr. Chaitanya highlighted the importance of carotid Doppler tests, which can identify blockages in blood vessels, especially in patients who have experienced paralysis. If the blockage exceeds 70%, placing a stent can effectively restore blood flow. In Shankar’s case, an angiogram test revealed a staggering 95% blockage in the blood vessels of his brain.
A team of specialists, including neurosurgeon Dr. Subrat Kumar and neurophysician Dr. Annam Harikrishna, immediately performed the procedure to clear the blockage and place a stent. Thanks to their efforts, Shankar made a full recovery and was discharged the very next day. Dr. Chaitanya emphasized that removing such blockages can prevent future strokes and save lives. He also expressed concern that many hospitals in the district are not offering such advanced treatments.
Dr. Naga Satish Kumar, the Administrative Officer of Apollo Rich Hospital, stated that the hospital is becoming a trusted center for rare and advanced medical procedures. He added that Apollo Rich is committed to providing high-quality, corporate-level healthcare to the general public, helping to save numerous lives in the region.
