Muslims celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. People gathered at mosques and Eidgahs to offer prayers and families came together to greet each other. Eid-ul-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal, an Islamic month, and the date varies according to the Islamic calendar based on the observation of the crescent moon.

Thousands of devout Muslims dressed in their fineries thronged major Eidgahs, including Eidgah Mir Alam, where over 2 lakh people attended prayers. Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi also offered prayers at the Mir Alam Eidgah. Other places in the city and state also witnessed huge crowds, including Hockey Ground at Masab Tank, Qutb Shahi Eidgah, Madannapet Eidgah, Mecca Masjid, Shahi Masjid, and Eidgah Balamrai Secunderabad.

After the prayers, people gathered for family get-togethers and Eid milap parties where they indulged in traditional feasts and delicacies like Sheerkhurma. Muslims greeted each other with “Eid Mubarak,” which means “Have a blessed Eid.”

Children eagerly awaited the festival to receive Eidi (gifts) from their elders. The Telangana State Wakf Board and other government departments made elaborate arrangements at several places for the festival.
