Property Registration Charges to Increase in Telangana

Property registration charges in Telangana will soon go up with the launch of the new ‘Bhu Bharati’ portal. This portal will replace the current Dharani system. State Revenue Minister P. Srinivasa Reddy confirmed that there will be no extension for the Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS) deadline.

The Revenue, Stamps, and Registration departments are reviewing stamp duty and registration charges. They are working on updating these charges to match current market rates. Minister Reddy explained that once Bhu Bharati is fully implemented, the revised charges will take effect. He shared this information during a media interaction at the Assembly on Monday.

The minister assured that Bhu Bharati will only be launched after thorough testing. Officials will ensure there are no technical glitches in property transactions and title deed issuance. To improve land surveys, the government plans to appoint a Surveyor and Deputy Surveyor in each mandal. Additionally, 6,000 licensed surveyors will be hired to assist with the process.

Regarding the Land Regularisation Scheme, the minister reminded applicants to pay the required fee before March 31 to get a 25% discount. If they miss this deadline, they will have to pay the full 100% fee when applying for building permissions. He also mentioned that the previous government had rejected 13 lakh LRS applications. Those affected can now appeal to the Appellate Authority for reconsideration.

On the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Minister Reddy stated that the central government has approved the construction of 1.13 lakh houses in urban areas.
