Ration Dealers' Association in Karimnagar Threatens to Protest in Response to Frustration

On Saturday, members of the JAC of Telangana State Fair Price Shops held a protest in Karimnagar and called on the Telangana government to address their issues. They warned that if their demands were not met by June 5, they would go on strike.

The JAC submitted a memorandum to the District Collector, demanding that Chief Minister KCR fulfill a promise made nine years ago to provide honorarium to fair price shop workers. They also called for wages to be provided to statewide dealers and for various other demands to be met, including insurance coverage, government support for porter costs, and the establishment of bridges at each MLS way.

Additionally, they requested permanent authorization for dealerships and special consideration for family members of 99 dealers who died from COVID-19 during the distribution of free rice. The JAC also called for financial support for deceased dealers’ families, as well as other measures to support fair price shop workers.

If their concerns are not addressed by June 4, the JAC warned that they would observe a Bandh of Ration Shops and take further action in the form of protests and strikes.
